charleighclarke Something about gotthat reminds me of Mac Miller which is never a bad thing. I love the Heaven and Hell Is on Earth (1975) sample too. It fits *so* well. Favorite track: gotthat.

about

An ode to the great beatmakers before him, “motion!” showcases FRANK LEONE’s range across the six tracks he made in less than a week. With sparse features from Philly rapper lojii on “atimemyfriend” and saxophonist / bassoonist Kevin King on “alabrynthoflove”, FRANK lets his own vocals sit in the background, placing his piano playing, jazz arrangements, lush
samples, and feverish drum programming on display.

“atimemyfriend”, the lead single from the record is a refreshing jazz-rap duet between FRANK’s keys and lojii’s reflections on a world that leaves those at the top and the bottom of it all equally lonely.

The remaining songs feature rich nods to Madlib, Flying Lotus, DJ Screw, and even dips into classical Shostakovich territory on the outro, giving FRANK the sonic freedom to appreciate the
legends who filled his ears since an early age.
